Anaphylactic Reactions

Anaphylaxis also known as anaphylactic shock is a severe potentially fatal allergic reaction.

The whole body is affected, usually within minutes of exposure to the allergen but sometimes after hours.

Anaphylaxis can be triggered by a very wide range of foods and other agents.

The most common include:-

  • peanuts
  • nuts
  • sesame
  • fish
  • shellfish
  • dairy products
  • eggs
  • wasp or bee stings
  • natural latex (rubber)
  • and certain drugs.

For someone experiencing anaphylactic shock, time is of the essence and you should immediately call for emergency medical care.
